Russian king crab prices in Japan stage 70% jump from summer due to tightened fishing enforcement by Moscow

(vasep.com.vn) Two years ago, Vietnam cephalopod exports to the U.S. reported positive growth, even marked two or three digit growth in some months on par with the previous year. However, through August 2013, exports of the item to the market got the continuous reduction of 30.5 – 96 percent in each month over 2012. This is the deepest decline in the past 5 years.

(vasep.com.vn) Through October 15th, 2013, Vietnam surimi products exported to 11 European markets for total revenue of US$13 million, down 45.2 percent against the same period of 2012.

The Russian fisheries agency announced a huge increase in red king crab quotas last week. The new quotas are a result of surveys showing the crab stock in better shape than expected.

To deal with the problem, a project on installing movimar satellite machine on offshore fishing boats (VMS) was kicked off in Vietnam’s 28 coastal provinces.

(vasep.com.vn) A project on exports of lobster and grouper in the official way was recently approved by Khanh Hoa People’s Committee. This is the first time live fish of the locality is exported in the way.

(vasep.com.vn) Through October 2013, Vietnam exported over US$60 million of bivalve mollusk products, downed 4.7 percent against the compatible period of 2012. Despite down in export revenue, foreign markets for Vietnamese bivalve mollusk increased from 46 to 54 markets.

Peruvian fishmeal export revenues are down in 2013 on a decline in shipped volumes to top markets.

(vasep.com.vn) The government of Vietnam funded VND1,300 billion for fishermen to build new offshore fishing vessels including 1,365 ones with capacity of more than 90 CV.

Delegations from the EU and Seychelles have successfully initiated an inter-governmental fishing agreement which will allow Seychelles flagged vessels to continue fishing operations in the waters of Mayotte.
