Decline in Peru's fishmeal shipments sends returns plummeting over 27% in September

Peruvian fishmeal export revenues are down in 2013 on a decline in shipped volumes to top markets.

According to Peru's production ministry the country's exported revenues were down nearly 28 percent to US$1.07 billion from $1.4 billion compared with YTD figures from September 2012.

Decreases in exported volumes likely contributed to the revenue decline.  Through September Pervian fishmeal exports are down over 43 percent to 1,145,000 tons.

Additionally, the per ton prices has declined from US$1,598/ton in 2012 to $1,1443 tons in September 2013. China continues to be the top market for fishmeal having imported over 400,000 tons in 2013.
