Da Nang completes EC recommendations, accelerates efforts to lift IUU “yellow card”

Nguyễn Đức Bình, vice director of Quảng Ngãi Province's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that 4,259 out of 5,194 fishing boats (82 per cent) had registered for operations at sea.

The Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre has intensively implemented measures to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing in anticipation of the fifth working round with the inspection delegation from the European Commission (EC).

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) From June 12 to June 17, 2022, the VASEP’s IUU Working Group hold a dialogue program with the Sub-Department of Fisheries, fishing ports, fishermen and businesses of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa on fighting IUU fishing.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) On August 10, 2021, Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) and the World Bank announced “A Trade-Based Analysis of the Economic Impact of Non-Compliance with Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing: The Case of Vietnam”.

On June 28, 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued Decision 2840/QD-BNN-TCTS on the designation and publication of a list of seaports eligible for fishing vessels, transport and transshipment vessels of foreign-caught aquatic products landing at ports for import, temporary import for re-export, and transit of caught aquatic products through the Vietnamese territory.

On March 08, 2019, the Government promulgates the Decree No. 26/2019/ND-CP on providing guidelines for implementation of the Law on Fisheries.

On December 25, 2018, the Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development promulgated the Circular No. 36/2018/TT-BNNPTNT on amendments to the Circular No. 26/2016/TT-BNNPTNT dated June 30, 2016 by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development on quarantine of aquatic animals and products thereof.

This Decree deals with administrative violations, penalties, fines, remedial measures against each violation, the power to impose penalties, fines imposed by authorized title holders, and the power to record administrative violations against regulations on fisheries.
