This is an annual inspection activity of EU toward countries that export seafood to this block with respect to monitoring, distribution and usage of veterinary medicine in the country.
EU is Viet Nam’s key seafood export market with full potentials regarding high demand and good prices, said MARD’s Deputy Minister Mr. Luong Le Phuong. However, seafood exported to this market is under strict monitor on hygiene and food safety. Therefore, seafood exporters are advised to comply with importers’ standards to build brand and win consumers’ confidence in this market.
Currently, 330 seafood companies have been allowed to export to EU. By the mid of September this year, Viet Nam exported 238.293MT of seafood to this block, earning US$733.454 million, accounting for 26.1 percent of the country’s total seafood export value. (VietFishNews)
