(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first half of this year, Vietnam’s cephalopod shipments to China witnessed the highest growth rate among major importing markets of Vietnam. In July 2017, Vietnam’s cephalopod exports to the market valued at US$6.5 million, a remarkable increase of 226% compared to July 2016. The figure in the first 7 months of this year totaled over US$21 million, up 140% over the same period in 2016.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Shrimp imports into the EU accounts for about 30.6% of total worldwide imports, ranging from US$6-8 billion per year. In the past 10 years (2007-2016), shrimp imports into the bloc increased from US$5.6 billion to US$6.7 billion in 2016. The export value bottomed out at US$5.4 billion in 2009 and reached a peak US$7,6 billion in 2014.

Fishermen of the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang have caught nearly 80,000 tonnes of seafood since the start of the year, a rise of 2.2 percent year-on-year.

The Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang is striving to gross more than 42 million USD from exports in the fourth quarter of 2017, fulfilling its yearly target of 400 million USD.

Concerning on the risk of yellow card issued by EU in the same way of some countries, so far VASEP has many cooperation programs and action together with Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and Directorate of Fisheries (D- Fish) and the fishing community, showing the strong commitment in compliance of IUU regulations and accompany with MARD, D-Fish and relevant state agencies.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) On September 25th, 2017, at the conference "Vietnam marine product companies commit to combating IUU" held by VASEP, marine product enterprises agree to establish the Steering Committee of fisheries enterprises on combating IUU under VASEP. The Steering Committee includes 10 leaders from 10 marine product enterprises.

Vietnam recorded over 2.6 million tonnes of aquatic products in the first nine months of 2017, a year-on-year rise of 5.2 percent, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
