In the first 7 months of this year, cephalopod imports into France from Vietnam reported the impressive growth of 274% to eye US$6.1 million.

Aquatic product exports in the past ten months rose 17.6 percent to 6.73 billion USD, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

According to the statistics from Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s cephalopod exports to ASEAN in the first 7 months of this year totaled US$38 million, an increase of 40% over the same period in 2016. This was the 4th largest importer of Vietnam cephalopod.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In August 2017, Vietnam’s pangasius export value to China was double that to the U.S. Thus, China - Hong Kong became the largest importer of Vietnam pangasius in the first 8 months of this year with the value of US$247.4 million, accounting for 21.3% of the total export value, up 43.9% over the same period last year.

Through Aug 2017, Vietnam’s cephalopod sales totaled US$402 million, up 55% over the same period last year. Exports in Sep 2017 to top 9 major importing markets recorded the positive growth over the same period in 2016. Supplies increased thanks to a rise in capture output and import volume, along with the flexibility of exporters in adjusting the structure of products and markets, which had facilitated exports of cephalopod in the first 8 months of the year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) On 24th October 2017, at the headquarter of Vietnam Coast Guard in Hanoi, Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) and Vietnam Coast Guard signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the cooperation in combating IUU fishing and strong determination together with the Government and relevant units on building Vietnamese fisheries sustainably and effectively. Lieutenant General Hoang Van Dong, the Command's Political Commissar chaired the conference.

The country stays as the second largest tuna importer in the region and is a potential importing market of some suppliers such as Thailand and Indonesia and Vietnam.
