By the end of April 2020, the total export value of pangasius reached US$449.5 million, down nearly 27% over the same period in 2019. Most of the major importers (among the top 10 largest importers of Vietnamese pangasius) all slid. On the contrary, exports to Singapore rose by 12.7% and that to the UK lifted by 1.1% over the same period in 2019.

If the Covid-19 pandemic is resolved by the end of the second quarter of 2020, the world market reopens, Vietnam shrimp can take advantage of opportunities to export after the Covid-19 period.

Fish catches are gradually recovering after the COVID-19 outbreak in central provinces, according to local fishermen.

Diversifying products and adapting quickly to market fluctuations will help create growth momentum and remove difficulties for seafood exports, experts have said.
