(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first six months of 2020, Vietnam exported fish paste and surimi to 31 markets with a value of US$ 140.6 million, down 9.3% over the same period in 2019.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first five months of 2020, Japan imported cephalopod from 11 suppliers. China, Vietnam, and Thailand were the three largest suppliers, accounting for 81%, 9.5%, and 4.8% of the total import value of Japanese cephalopod respectively.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In May 2020, Vietnam's tuna export value to major markets remained low. This indicated that the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic on the tuna industry is still lasting.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In May 2020, Vietnamese shrimp exports reached US$330.2 million, up 0.6% compared to May 2019. In the first five months, shrimp export hit US$1.2 billion, up by 2.3% year on year. Export volume did not increase much, but shrimp export results in the first five months of 2020 are encouraging in the context that the Covid-19 epidemic is still ongoing in large markets. Notably, shrimp exports to the US and China recorded positive growth and it is expected that Vietnamese shrimp exports to these markets will still grow well in the coming months.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) After a slight decrease in the first two months of the year due to the impact of Covid-19 epidemic, Vietnamese cephalopod exports to China has recovered slightly in March and increased sharply in April 2020. It is expected that exports of cephalopod to this market will continue to grow well in May.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the International Trade Center (ITC), in the first four months of this year, South Korea imported cephalopod from nine importers, of which Vietnam was the third-largest supplier. Cephalopod imports of South Korea in the first four months of this year reached nearly US$96 million, down 13.4% over the same period in 2019. China was the largest supplier of cephalopod for South Korea. South Korea's cephalopod imports from staple suppliers all slumped.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Canada ranked the 6th in Vietnam shrimp imports, accounting for 5.7% of total Vietnam's shrimp exports to markets. Vietnam's shrimp exports to Canada in the first four months of this year still recorded double-digit growth despite the context of the Covid-19 epidemic.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the International Trade Center (ITC), in the first four months of this year, shrimp imports into Japan reached US$ 638 million, down 0.5% from the same period in 2019. Japan was also one of the earliest affected in Asia by the COVID-19 pandemic, so the demand for shrimp imports of this market was somewhat affected by the epidemic. Among the top 5 key shrimp suppliers to Japan, shrimp imports into Japan from India lifted the most, imports from Vietnam and China slightly augmented meanwhile imports from Thailand and Indonesia fell.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In May 2020, Vietnamese cephalopod exports reached nearly US$ 42 million, down nearly 25% compared to May 2019. In the first 5 months of the year, cephalopod exports reached nearly US$192 million, down 21.2% over the same period in 2019. The impact of the COVID-19 epidemic reduced demand and production materials. Therefore, Vietnamese cephalopod exports in the first 5 months of 2020 continued to decline.
