(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The EU accounted for 66% of Vietnam's total export value of bivalve mollusk to markets. Portugal, Spain and Italia were the three main importers of Vietnamese bivalve mollusk representing for 80% export value to the EU. In the third quarter, exports to these three markets increased sharply by 68%, 13% and 45%. Therefore, exports to the EU grew by 35% in the third quarter and 8.6% in the first 9 months.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first 7 months of 2019, total white fish imports of Russia still rose by 12.43% over the same period in 2018. In particular, imports of cod and pollock still grew well; Imports of frozen pangasius fillets (HS 0304) increased slightly by nearly 3%, while imports of frozen pangasius (HS code 0303) declined sharply by more than 29%.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Import of processed and canned tuna into Germany in the first nine months of this year was bleak, mainly due to the decrease in imports from non-EU countries. According to the statistics of the International Trade Center (ITC), in the first 9 months of 2019 tuna imports into this market decreased by 29% over the same period in 2018.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) By the first half of October 2019, the total value of pangasius exports to Malaysia reached US$ 34.18 million, up 23.6% over the same period in 2018. Currently, Malaysia is the second largest pangasius importer of Vietnamese exporters in ASEAN.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) After positive growth in 4 months from May to August, Vietnamese shrimp exports to the US in September 2019 decreased by 18% to US $ 64.7 million. As of October 15, 2019, shrimp exports to this market reached US$510.5 million, up 1.2% over the same period in 2018.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In October, 2019 Vietnamese tuna exports continued to decline. Export value in October 2019 only reached nearly US$ 63 million, down 6.4% over the same period in 2018. By the end of October 2019, Vietnamese tuna was exported to 107 markets, compared to 103 markets in 2018.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The shrimp-rice model is highly evaluated for economic efficiency and is considered as a sustainable production model, adapting to climate change and saline intrusion. Therefore, Bac Lieu province is aiming to build and replicate this model to create clean agricultural products to export.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Currently, the area of brackish water aquaculture of Binh Thuan is nearly 900 ha. Of which, Tuy Phong district made up 320 ha, Bac Binh accounts for 38 ha, Ham Thuan Bac and Ham Thuan Nam account for 23 and 145 ha respectively.... The main farming species is whiteleg shrimp with over 850 ha, the rest are other types such as crab, seabass, pomfret, and snail. Average shrimp production in the first 9 months of 2019 reached 10 MT/ha.

On 16 January 2020, Minh Phu Group (MPG) became aware, through press and media sources, that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Department (CBP) has officially initiated a formal investigation of the alleged evasion of anti-dumping duties (AD duties) by MSeafood, a U.S subsidiary of MPG (the EAPA Investigation). MPG also learned that the CBP applied preliminary measures (the Decision) in accordance with the complaint from the Ad Hoc Shrimp Trade Enforcement Committee (AHSTEC). As of the date of this press release, MPG and MSeafood have not yet received any official document from CBP in relation to this matter.
