According to data released by the General Statistics Office, Vietnam’s total aquatic production in the third quarter of 2025 reached over 2.71 million tons, up 3.3% year-on-year. Cumulatively, in the first nine months of 2025, the country’s total aquatic production exceeded 7.26 million tons, an increase of 3.2% compared to the same period last year.

Aquaculture output in Q3/2025 reached nearly 1.71 million tons, up 5.5% year-on-year. In the first nine months of 2025, aquaculture production was estimated at about 4.28 million tons, up 5.1%, including: Fish: nearly 2.8 million tons, up 4.8%, Shrimp: 998,800 tons, up 6.3%, Other aquatic species: 494,500 tons, up 4.6%
For pangasius, Q3/2025 harvest output reached 469,300 tons, up 4.8% year-on-year; total output in the first nine months reached around 1.34 million tons, up 4.6%. The increase was driven by higher processing and export demand for value-added pangasius products, as well as rising selling prices in Q3/2025, ensuring profitability for farmers.
White leg shrimp production in Q3/2025 reached 352,800 tons, up 6.9% year-on-year, while black tiger shrimp output was 87,200 tons, up 3.5%. Cumulatively, in the first nine months of 2025, whiteleg shrimp production totaled 719,700 tons (+7.1%) and black tiger shrimp 212,300 tons (+3.5%). Shrimp output increased thanks to industrial and super-intensive farming models and the effective application of high technology.
Meanwhile, national capture fisheries output in Q3/2025 reached over 1 million tons, down 0.3% year-on-year. For the first nine months of 2025, total capture production was nearly 3 million tons, up 0.5% compared to the same period last year.
