(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Held as part of Vietfish 2026 from August 19–21 at SECC in Ho Chi Minh City, a series of five specialized seminars provided the seafood business community with updates on markets, technology, standards, human resources and cooperation opportunities. With the participation of experts, international organizations, government agencies and businesses from Vietnam and abroad, the seminars created an additional platform for professional exchange alongside the exhibition’s product showcases and business networking activities.
The seminar series opened on August 19, 2026, with the session “The Global Seafood Market and the Future Workforce: Trends, Opportunities and Sustainable Development Directions for Vietnam’s Seafood Industry.” Experts from the FAO, Nha Trang University and businesses discussed global seafood market trends, new requirements for supply chains, seafood fraud, increasing the value of by-products, green transformation, and the challenge of attracting younger generations to the industry in the future.
On August 20, the seminar “Green and Sustainable Technology Solutions for the Aquaculture & Seafood Processing Chain” broadened the discussion to technological transformation across the entire value chain. Topics ranged from breeding and genotyping technologies, aquatic animal health management, vaccines for pangasius, and traceable aquaculture chains to automation in shrimp and pangasius processing, converting by-products into fishmeal and fish oil, and developing human resources for modern aquaculture.
Also on August 20, the seminar “GSA/BAP Standards Update: Opportunities & Solutions for Accessing Global Markets” provided updates on market trends in the EU, US, Japan and China. The session also introduced changes related to seafood processing plant standards, the farm and hatchery group program, and aquafeed plant standards.
From a market perspective, the seminar “Overview of Key Seafood Markets: Regulations, Trends and Outlook” focused on major export markets, including the UK, US, EU and Canada. Speakers updated participants on consumer trends, new regulations, compliance issues that businesses need to pay attention to when exporting, as well as standards and certification requirements that are increasingly having a direct impact on market access.
The seminar series concluded on August 21, 2026, with the Vietnam–China Seafood Trade Forum: Opportunities for Cooperation and Sustainable Development. The forum focused on analyzing the opportunities and challenges in bilateral seafood trade, import and consumption trends in China, new market requirements, and solutions to help Vietnamese businesses expand their market share and strengthen competitiveness in this key market.
One notable feature of the Vietfish 2026 seminar series was its strong appeal to participants. Alongside the large number of visitors at the exhibition, the seminar rooms continuously welcomed businesses, experts, students and international visitors.
Practical topics closely linked to production and business activities, engaging presentations by speakers, and live Q&A sessions generated lively exchanges between participants and experts. Through these five seminars, Vietfish further affirmed its role not only as a platform for business networking and product promotion, but also as a forum for sharing knowledge, market trends and emerging issues shaping Vietnam’s and the global seafood industry.
