India: Seafood park proposed to meet demands

A seafood park has been recommended by the government company Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) at Deras in Khurda district to fulfill the long standing demands of exporters and other stakeholders.

Chile: Seafood landings increased in the first quarter

Accumulated seafood landings totalled 929,600 tonnes up to March 2014, that is to say, 8.8 per cent more than in the first three months of 2013, when 854,200 tonnes were landed, the Undersecretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture (SUBPESCA) reported.

Peru: More resources for frozen industry

Last February 127,740 tonnes of seafood were landed in Peruvian ports, a volume that represents a rise of 1.1 per cent compared with 126,340 tonnes recorded in the same month of 2013.

Incredible first quarter for Norwegian seafood exports

Norway exported seafood for NOK 16.8 (€2.026) million in the first quarter of the year. In total, this represents a 25 percent increase compared to the same period in 2013. The incredible skrei fisheries contributed to a 65 percent increase in the the export of fresh cod, according to figures from the Norwegian Seafood Council.

Bac Lieu: Fish production hit 22,969 MT in April

(vasep.com.vn) According to Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), in May 2014, the Ministry will recommend the Prime Minister to give more incentives for fishery industry, particularly offshore fishing activities. This aims to bring higher economic efficiency, facilitate fishermen in offshore fishing, help them raise their income and protect the national security and sovereignty.

Godaco up 20 percent in pangasius exports

(pangasius-vietnam.com) Through April 2014, Godaco Seafood Joint Stock Company (Godaco) earned US$18 million from pangasius exports, up 20 percent year on year. Shipments to the EU accounted for 60 of the total export value.
