(vasep.com.vn) A general meeting of the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) took place in Ho Chi Minh city on June 12, 2014 with the participation of 143 seafood enterprises and representatives from related agencies.

More investments for irrigation to develop fisheries

(vasep.com.vn) Vietnam seafood exports earn annual revenue of US$6 billion, however, irrigation system serving for aquaculture has not been developed. As a result, fish farmers and enterprises suffer from loss caused by diseases. The loss was mainly attributable to lack of investments for irrigation system, Mr. Nguyen Huu Dung, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) said.

Philippines: Q1 fisheries output down by 3.25%

STILL reeling from the effects of Supertyphoon Yolanda (international code name Haiyan), total fisheries production posted a negative growth of 3.25 percent during the first quarter of 2014, the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS) reported recently.

Vietnam’s tuna loin exports to Netherlands up 396 percent

(vasep.com.vn) While Vietnam tuna exports to main European consumers showed the reduction, tuna exports from Vietnam to the Netherlands reported three digit growth. Vietnam tuna exports to the market through April 2014 reached nearly US$8.9 million, up 123 percent year on year.

Vietnam shrimp exports sharply increased

(vasep.com.vn) EU is one of the three largest markets of Vietnam seafood. Fish exports to the region accounts for nearly 18 percent of total seafood export value of the country. In which, shrimp exports make up the largest value in its total sales to the block.

Poland increased imports chilled and fresh pangasius fillets

(vasep.com.vn) In the first months of this year, frozen catfish fillets imported by Poland mainly came from Vietnam, not from China as before. Pangasius from Vietnam accounted for 94 percent of the total volume of goods imported by the market. The remaining of 6 percent was imported from Denmark and Germany.

1% interbank rate increase to support exports
