Minh Phu Seafood: 9-fold rise in profit in Q.I/2014

(vasep.com.vn) In the first quarter of 2014, Minh Phu Seafood Corp (HOSE code: MPC) reached VND2,792.5 billion of net turnover, up 89 percent year on year, according to the company's financial report. The gross profit increased by 146 percent to VND394.7 billion.

Vietnam seeking to boost its mollusk exports

New Wind Seafood Co., Ltd: More orders for shrimp products

(vasep.com.vn) The first four months of 2014, New Wind Seafood Co., Ltd has signed enough shrimp supply contracts with foreign buyers. The number of contracts is higher than that reported in the previous years. Orders for shrimp products are equal to 90 percent of the company's best sales in the past.

Thua Thien-Hue cooperating with C.P Thailand for high quality shrimp production

(vasep.com.vn) The province of Thue Thien-Hue is cooperating with the C.P Thailand Group to expand shrimp farming on sand in some districts in the province. These farms are in application of Green House technology - an enclosed system for raising safe and disease-free shrimp. Green House is the newest technology used by C.P Thailand. It also appears in many areas over the world.

Training courses on international laws for fishermen in Da Nang province

(vasep.com.vn) The Department of Capture Fisheries and Resources Protection under Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) cooperated with Da Nang sub-department of Fisheries to open training courses on Vietnamese and international laws on East Sea for more than 300 fishermen resided in the province.

Baseafood: East Sea tensions have no impact to seafood sales to China

(vasep.com.vn) Through April 2014, the Baria-Vungtau Seafood Processing and Im-Ex Joint Stock Company (Baseafood) totaled US$7 million from seafood exports, down 30 percent year on year. In which, frozen marine products (marine fish, cephalopod and surimi…) made up of 60 – 70 percent; the rest was dried seafood products sent to Russia and the Middle East.

Thailand shrimp exports continued to decline in QI/2014

(vasep.com.vn) In 2013, Thailand’s shrimp sector suffered a severe loss by Early Mortality Syndrome (EMS) outbreak. This led to a drastic fall in its shrimp output and export. Although EMS has been controlled in Thailand in 2014, its shrimp sector still needs several years to have a full recovery.

FSIS and FDA signed MOU on transition of catfish inspection

This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)number 225-14-0009 between the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), United States Department of Health and Human Services, is intended to improve interagency cooperation on food safety and fraud prevention and to maximize the effectiveness of personnel and resources related to examination and inspection of Siluriformes fish and fish products.
