(TheFishSite) BELGIUM – The 20th edition of the European Seafood Exposition (ESE) and 14th edition of Seafood Processing Europe (SPE) will be held in Brussels, Belgium, between Tuesday 24 and Thursday 26 April. These global events will assemble seafood buyers and sellers from throughout the world with over 1,600 companies from more than 70 exhibiting countries.

(vasep.com.vn) Action plans for developing the agricultural and fishery product processing industry to implement Vietnam’s industrialization strategy within the Vietnam-Japan cooperation framework by 2020 with a vision for 2030 has been signed by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dzung. Five typical items namely rubber, coffee, tea, shrimp and fruit were selected.

(IntraFish) Peru's fish production will likely fall 5 percent in 2012 due in part to a limited anchovy quota.A ban on some anchovy captures will likely cause a 20 percent drop in anchovy production, although authorities have yet to determine the quota, reports Reuters.

The business cooperation between some seafood processing companies in the Mekong Delta provinces and catfish farmers have turned into a chain of debts, with the processors unable to pay farmers, who in turn also fail to repay the feed suppliers, and so on. The chain can collapse at any time, burdening farmers’ with pressure to clear bank loans, while sending the businesses to bankruptcy.

(vasep.com.vn) In QI/2014, total seafood exports increased 31% year on year thanks to surge in shrimp exports. In QII, exports continued its upward trend thanks to shrimp exports and the recovery of other seafood products such as cephalopod and marine fish types except for tuna. Total export value reached US$1.9 billion, up nearly 20% in QII, making Vietnam seafood exports in 1H achieve US$3.6 billion, up 25% year on year.
