73 seafood enterprises recognized as elite exporters in 2013

(vasep.com.vn) On May 23rd 2014, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) issued the Decision No. 4603/QĐ-BCT on approving the official list of Vietnam’s elite exporters in 2013. The list includes 370 companies from 22 sectors in which the number of seafood companies made up the largest proportion.

Pangasius feed price in 2011 surged seven-fold higher than 2010

(pangasius-vietnam.com) According to Directorate of Fisheries (D-Fish), in 2011, the total production of pangasius seed nationwide reached nearly 2.4 billion pieces, pangasius farming area was 5,430 hectares, harvested fish production gained 1,195,344 MT. Compared to 2010, fish seed production was stable while farming area increased by 30 hectares and fish production rose by 50,000 MT.

HP Seafood’s export to the EU slowed

India seafood exports up 22%

(IntraFish) Seafood exports rose 22 percent in India during April through December of 2011. The country exported 621,577 metric tons valued at INR121.9 billion ($2.48 billion / €1.87 billion), far surpassing the 612,505 metric tons valued at INR100.18 billion ($2.03 billion/ €1.5 billion) exported in the same period of 2010, reports The Economic Times.

40 percent of pangasius farming area certified by international standards

(vasep.com.vn) Baria – Vungtau Seafood Processing and Im-Ex Joint Stock Company (Baseafood) prepared 50 MT of seafood of all varieties to satisfy domestic demand in Vietnam traditional Tet holiday. Among traded items, only premium dried products, including dried dressed squid and dried shrimp, got a slight rise of 5 percent in price, according to Tran Van Dung, Chairman and General Director of Baseafood.
