(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In celebration of World Oceans Day (June 8), the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), in collaboration with the For Green Future Foundation – Vingroup, will organize a seminar titled "Sustainable Development of the Fisheries industry" on the morning of June 7, 2025, at Vinpearl Beachfront Nha Trang. The event aims to spread awareness of blue economic growth, ocean conservation, and the protection of marine ecosystems.
Officially recognized by the United Nations in 2008, World Oceans Day highlights the essential role of the ocean in sustaining life and fostering the planet’s sustainable development. With this year’s theme, “Wonder: Sustaining What Sustains Us”, the event calls for urgent global action to restore and safeguard threatened marine ecosystems.
In line with this spirit, the third United Nations Ocean Conference will take place in Paris this year, with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and a high-level delegation in attendance. Vietnam’s active presence at this important forum underscores its strong commitment to implementing Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW on the sustainable development strategy for the marine economy through 2030, with a vision to 2045. It also reaffirms Vietnam’s support for the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982) and the country’s engagement in global efforts to protect a peaceful and sustainable blue ocean.

The upcoming seminar in Nha Trang, co-hosted by VASEP and the For a Green Future Foundation – Vingroup, will serve as a multilateral platform bringing together government agencies, seafood businesses, and industry experts. The discussions will center on green transformation, marine pollution control, circular economy promotion, and sustainable development across the seafood value chain.
This initiative not only reflects the domestic seafood industry’s efforts to adapt to climate change, conserve natural resources, and pursue sustainable development, but also affirms Vietnam’s proactive, responsible role in fulfilling international commitments to protect the world’s oceans.
