(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Over 1.8 billion USD and negative growth of 27% in the first quarter of 2023, showing that the situation of the seafood market is more difficult than expected. The picture of seafood exports may gradually brighten in the second quarter and is expected to recover better from the third quarter when the Chinese market has a clearer improvement and seafood enterprises have adjusted their product structure and markets to adapt to the context of 2023.

(vasep.com.vn) In the first quarter of this year, Vietnam's pangasius exports brought in $422 million, down 35% over the same period last year. Global food inflation, coupled with a large inventory, caused demand and import prices to decrease, which had a negative impact on export sales of Vietnamese pangasius in many major markets.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam's crab exports continued to decline in March 2023. Export value this month reached 11 million USD, down 37% over the same period. The total value of crab exports in the first 3 months of the year was nearly 30 million USD, 42% lower than the same period in 2022. This decline is due to inflation still causing the demand for crabs to decrease in most of the main markets.

(seafood. vasep.com.vn) In February 2023, Vietnam's tuna exports to the UK suddenly increased more than 13 times over the same period, reaching 971 thousand USD. This positive result offset the decrease in January and brought the total export turnover in the first two months of 2023 to more than $1.3 million, nearly 3 times higher than the same period in 2022. The UK is currently the 15th largest single tuna import market of Vietnam.

The exhibition attracts more than 1,550 exhibitors from more than 76 countries around the world with the exhibition space of nearly 40,000 square meters. This year's fair will be held from April 25 to 27, 2023 in Barcelona, Spain.

However, shrimp exports to this market in January 2023 decreased sharply due to the Lunar New Year, so by the first half of March 2023, shrimp exports to this market reached 36 million USD, down 31% compared to the same period in 2022.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) After a 34% decline in January, Vietnam's tuna exports to Spain suddenly reversed in February. The value of Vietnam's tuna exports to this market in February increased by 58%, reaching nearly 1.6 million USD. This figure contributed to bringing the total tuna export turnover to this market in the first two months of 2023 to nearly $2.5 million, up 4% over the same period.
