Canned tuna exports to the EU increased sharply thanks to FTA

However, this increase can not compensate for losses in the previous months. Therefore, Vietnam's tuna exports in the first 5 months of 2023 still decreased slightly by 4% compared to the same period last year.

Positive signal for shrimp exports to the US

Vietnam’s cephalopod exports to Japan tend to recover

In May 2023 alone, the export value for this product reached 52 million USD, showing a decrease of 18% over the same period.

Shrimp exports in May 2023: Positive signals from some small markets

Any bright spots for seafood exports in the second half of the year?

However, accumulated in the first 6 months, Vietnam's seafood export is still 27% lower than the same period last year, reaching nearly 4.2 billion USD.

Shrimp import demand in main markets is forecasted to increase slightly in H2

China doubles imports of pangasius butterfly cut

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Statistics from China Customs show that in the first 5 months of 2023, China imported nearly 137 thousand tons of pangasius, 16.5% higher than the same period last year. Particularly, whole pangasius butterfly cut products imports increased by 105% reaching 42.1 thousand tons. Import volume of frozen pangasius fillets reached nearly 95 thousand tons, decreased slightly by 2%.

Fishery production is estimated at 2,370.4 thousand tons in the second quarter of 2023

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Fishery output in the second quarter of 2023 was estimated at 2,370.4 thousand tons, up 1.6% over the same period last year. Specifically, fish reached 1,680.5 thousand tons, up 1.2%; shrimp reached 352.3 thousand tons, up 3.8%; other aquatic products reached 337.6 thousand tons, up 0.9%.

Vietnam’s pangasius exports continued to decrease in May 2023
