Camimex sets a seafood export target of 100 million USD in 2023

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Camimex Group JSC, formerly known as Ca Mau Frozen Enterprise, was established in 1977, operating mainly in the field of aquaculture, processing and preservation of seafood and aquatic products; export aquatic products, agricultural products. In 2005, Camimex officially became a joint stock company and in 2010 officially listed on HoSE. In the context of Vietnam's shrimp exports continuously declining in the first months of 2023, Camimex aims to increase 28% of seafood export turnover in 2023, equivalent to 100 million dollars.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In recent days, many seafood businesses have reported a decline in business results and profits since the beginning of the year. The market landscape is largely covered in shades of gray as the global economy remains unstable, with inflation showing no signs of cooling down in many major countries. Vietnamese seafood exports to key markets continue to decline sharply in April 2023, reflecting the impact of inflation and economic downturn in countries with import demands and seafood consumption.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam’s tuna exports to France experienced a galloping growth in 2022, an increase of nearly 101% compared to 2021. However, from the end of 2022 to the beginning of 2023, inflation in France led to a sharp increase in food prices, causing the consumption of high-end food to slow down, demand for many products including tuna dropped sharply, resulting in a decrease in imports.

Vietnam's shrimp industry has many opportunities for growth, but also countless challenges. One of the big challenges is chain linkage, closing the entire production process to control the quality of output products. This is the key to improving the value of Vietnamese shrimp exports to demanding markets.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Over the past time, the aquaculture sector in Ben Tre has maintained a quite stable development, with more than 50,000ha of potential aquaculture area. By the end of 2022, Ben Tre’s aquaculture area was 47,590ha; total farming production reached 310,015 tons. Main farmed species included 83,100 tons of brackish water shrimp, 14,900 tons of molluscs, 203,000 tons of pangasius, over 90% of the farmed output has high economic value for export processing. Ben Tre has 13 seafood processing factories for export with a designed capacity of more than 150,000 tons. Seafood export output in 2022 increased by 14.02%. Currently, Ben Tre is calling for investment in a shrimp processing plant to process raw shrimp products of the province.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the April socio-economic report of Ca Mau province, the province's total seafood volume in April reached 54,240 tons, up 5.18% over the same period in 2022. In which, the shrimp output reached 21,850 tons, up 8.58% over the same period in 2022, equivalent to 21% of Vietnam's total shrimp volume in April 2023.

(seafood. vasep.com.vn) According to statistics of Korea Customs, Korea's import of frozen fish cakes/surimi in March 2023 reached nearly 9 thousand tons, down 35% compared to the same period in 2022. In the first quarter of 2023, the import turnover of this product group reached nearly 34 thousand tons, a decrease of 4%.
