Vinh Long harvested 56,000 MT pangasius

(pangasius-vietnam.com) So far, Vinh Long - a Mekong Delta-based province - totaled 2,950 hectares of water surface for fish aquaculture, fulfilling more than 92 percent of its yearly plan. The province farmed pangasius on an area of 433 hectares and produced 56,000 MT of fish, according to Vinh Long Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Seafood exports likely to reach US$6.5 bil.

Truong Dinh Hoe, general secretary of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), forecast that this year’s seafood exports will likely amount to US$6.5 billion, up about US$300 million from 2012, despite a number of key products facing export difficulties.

Higher production and export of shrimp and chilled items drove India's marine products export to an all-time high of Rs 18,856 crore ($3,511.67 million) in 2012-13, rising 7.68% in quantity compared to the previous year, said LeenaNair, chairman of Marine Products Export Development Authority (Mpeda).
