Imported products must be processed by a food business operator (FBO) approved by Vietnamese Competent Authorities to be fully compliant with Vietnamese food hygiene and safety regulations; Each consignment of imported products must be accompanied by a health certificate issued by Competent Authorities of the exporting country (unless fish and fishery products captured by foreign fishing vessels, processed at sea and directly sold in Vietnam)

The fishing company Loki Fish based in Seattle, US, has tested radiation levels in its fish, as customers were concerned about the safety of eating fish from the Pacific Ocean after the Fukushima nuclear disaster, reports The Seattle Times.

(vasep.com.vn) In 2014, provinces in the Mekong Delta target to raise aquaculture area to 800,000 hectares, up 5,000 hectares year-on-year. Accordingly, local fish production is expected to hit 2.4 million MT, up over 400,000 MT.

The frozen skipjack price remains strong at USD 2 300-2 400/tonne for delivery to Bangkok. During early June, there was a softening in the price to USD 2 150/tonne that lasted for a short period. Marketers indicate that prices have bottomed out and could possibly increase again in a short time.

(vasep.com.vn) In 2013, Au Vung Seafoods Company (Au Vung Co) reached US$102 million of shrimp exports, up 79.2 percent against those of 2012. Au Vung Co mainly sent products to South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China and the EU countries. Its key items were black tiger and whiteleg shrimps.

(vasep.com.vn) Despite of improvement in American people’s consumer spending from last year, their demand for tuna was still low.Vietnam remained the second rank among leading suppliers to the U.S. even reduced tuna exports to the market in 2013.
