VHC: Reorganization to focus on core business areas

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) On August 3, 2016, Vinh Hoan Corporation (VHC), one of the world’s largest sustainable aquaculture companies, has announced a reorganization into three divisions. The divisional names reflect the different aspects of the company’s global aquaculture business: food, wellness, and research. The new structure is intended to clarify these divisions to stakeholders in the markets Vinh Hoan serves.

Vietnam surimi exports expected to rise in QIII/2016

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) After continuous slump in 2015, Vietnam's seafood exports in the first quarter of 2016 has recovered, reaching US$1.45 billion, up nearly 6.4% compared to the same period last year. In particular, the export of shrimp and pangasius rose 8% and 2.4%, respectively. Exports of squid, octopus and tuna fell 6.2% and 5.5%, while sales of marine fish and other products grew 19.5%.

Jan-Jun 2016: Vietnam seafood exports up 4%

Italy favors tuna from Vietnam

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In June 2016, Vietnam tuna exports to Italy reached more than US$2.9 million, up 69% compared to the same period last year. Thanks to the consecutive growth since earlier this year, exports to the market in the first half of 2016 hit US$12.9 million, up 98.6% year on year. So far, Italy stayed as the largest tuna importer from Vietnam in the EU.

QII/2016: Down in Vietnam cephalopod exports

Positive growth for Vietnam bivalve mollusk sales to US

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first 6 months of 2016, Vietnam bivalve mollusk exports totaled US$40.86 million, up 1.6% compared to the same period in 2015. Top 3 main importers accounting for 85% of Vietnam bivalve mollusk exports included the EU, the U.S and Japan.

Pangasius exports to US, China and Brazil inched up

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first half of this year, Vietnam pangasius exports reached US$790.2 million, up 5.4% year on year. Exports to the US, China-Hong Kong and Brazil reported the year-on-year growth but exports to EU, ASEAN, Mexico, Colombia, Saudi Arabia saw the reduction.

Jan-Jun 2016: Rebound in Vietnam crab exports
