(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first three months of 2016, raw pangasius price from Vietnam fell due to lower demand from some major markets. In the period, exports to some main markets showed the decline (the EU: -6.8%; ASEAN: -0.4%; Mexico: -32.8%; Colombia: -20.3%; Saudi Arabia: -11.8%) compared to the same period last year while exports to the 3 large markets (the U.S., China - Hong Kong and specially Brazil) registered a year-on-year rise of 3.4%; 48.2% and 542.2%, respectively.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In QI/2016, Vietnam’s shrimp exports to South Korea reached US$47.2 million; down 8% compared to the same period of 2015. In each month of QI/2016, shrimp exports to the market in January reached the highest of over US$19 million, up 17.2% compared to Jan 2015; exports in February reached the lowest of over US$11 million, down 21.3% compared to Feb 2015; exports in March 2016 increased compared to the previous month but down 18.7% from Mar 2015.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to Vietnam Customs, Vietnam shrimp exports to the UK in 2015 reached nearly US$130 million, up 13.4% from US$114.6 million of 2014. Last year, shrimp exports to the UK reported the positive growth while exports to all major markets fell.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In QI/2016, exports of Vietnam bivalve mollusks, mainly clam, valued US$18.6 million, up 9.4% compared to QI/2015. Vietnam exported these products to 43 countries worldwide, adding more 7 countries over the same period in 2015.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In 2015, Vietnam pangasius exports to the UK valued US$46.56 million, accounting for 3% of total export value, up 13.9% over the previous year. The average prices of imported catfish and pangasius into the UK were about US$3.11 - 3.82/kg, higher than some other markets in Europe such as Germany, Belgium, Finland, and France. Higher price in 2015 helped to facilitate pangasius exports of Vietnam to the market.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) From April 26 – 28, 2016, Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global (formerly the European Seafood Exposition/Seafood Processing Europe) took place in Brussels, Belgium. 23 Vietnamese enterprises joined in the Expo under the organization of VASEP according to 2016 national trade promotion program, 10 others attended the Expo under the booth of Vietnam Tuna Association in the framework of the project supporting SMEs sponsored by Swiss government and 3 enterprises participated the Expo by themselves.

In the first 3 months of this year, Vietnam's tuna exports to this market experienced a 3-digit growth, while those to others posted a year-on year decrease.
