The exports of key products also improved better than the same period last year. The rise is attributable that exports to major markets such as the U.S., EU and Japan has recovered.

Of which aquaculture production was estimated at 7,640.3 MT, up 10.7% over the same period (farming area was 3,831.8 ha, increasing 2.2%). Of total aquaculture production, shrimp accounted for 25.8% of aquaculture production, down 8.4% due to unstable weather conditions, unseasonal rain; Finfish production accounted for 27%, up 10.7%; other seafood accounted for 47.1%, up 27.6%.

In the first 3 months of 2017, the catch was 12,853 MT, equal to 15.4% of the yearly plan, up 5.4% (+653 MT) over the same period of 2016.

However, in the year, pangasius exports to the market continuously decreased in value from 1.1 to 34.8% over the same period last year. Up to the first half of February 2017, the value of pangasius exports to Germany reached US$3.19 million, down 25.8% over the same period in 2016.
