Tuna production in QI/2017 touched 5,846 MT

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first three months of 2017, tuna production in the three key provinces of Vietnam estimated at 5,846 MT. Currently, the price of ocean tuna at the port ranged from VND93,000 to VND110,000 per kg. In Phu Yen province, tuna production hit 1,500 MT, down 2.7% year on year; that in Binh Dinh province was 3,446 MT, an increase of 75% over the same period last year (from 1,970 MT); that in Khanh Hoa province was 900 MT, down 8% from a year before.

Da Nang: Fishery output in QI/2017 hit 9,891 MT

Rise in Vietnam shrimp sales to Netherlands

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The Netherlands ranks the 9th in importing shrimp in the world. Shrimp imports into the Netherlands in 2015 accounted for 2.8% of total shrimp imports of the world. In the period (2012-2016), shrimp imports into the Netherlands peaked in 2014 then fell in 2015 in line with the global downward trend. From 2016 until now, imports of Dutch shrimp have signs of recovery. Not only domestic consumption, the Netherlands also imports shrimp to export to the internal market.

Fishery output exceeds 1 million tonnes in four months

Vietnam’s fishery output in the first four months of this year exceeded 1 million tonnes, up 5.7 percent year-on-year thanks to favourable weather, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

Vietnam cephalopod sales to Thailand up slightly

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the statistics of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam cephalopod exports to Thailand in the first two months of this year totaled US$5.8 million, an increase of 0.2% over the same period last year. Thailand is the largest importer of cephalopod in Asean. Particularly, in February 2017, Vietnam’s sales reached US$2.8 million, up 118.4% compared with February 2016.

Aquatic export hits 2.1 bln USD in four months

Vietnam earned an estimated 604 million USD from the export of aquatic products in April, bringing the total figure of the year’s first four months to about 2.1 billion USD, representing a year-on-year increase of 8.2 percent.
