(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to data from Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s pangasius export value reached 189 million USD in May 2025, an increase of 12% compared to the same period last year. Cumulatively, pangasius exports in the first five months of this year totaled 829 million USD, up 11% year-on-year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) From the beginning of 2025 to now, Tra Vinh province's aquatic product output has reached over 101,500 tons, 4,329 tons higher than the same period in 2024.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The output of aquatic product exploited and farmed in Kien Giang since the beginning of the year has reached more than 304,240 tons, reaching 36.64% of the yearly plan and increasing by 9.81% over the same period; of which, aquatic exploitation is about 169,759 tons, reaching 40.42% of the plan.

(sea.food.com.vn) In the first six months of 2025, Binh Dinh's total seafood capture production is estimated at 144,200 tons, marking a 3.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Aquaculture production reached approximately 7,100 tons, up 8%. Notably, shrimp farming contributed 4,700 tons, a 10.3% rise year-on-year, achieving 44.8% of the annual target.

With ideal natural conditions and positive growth in both production and export value, mollusk farming is moving in the right direction. However, to ensure sustainable and effective development, several bottlenecks still need to be addressed.

However, behind the growth, the shrimp sector is facing many challenges, especially from the US market - where it is expected to apply a reciprocal tariff policy and anti- dumping duty at an unprecedented high level.
