Trade between Vietnam and China has produced positive results, despite long-lasting difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, with Vietnam affirming its position as China’s largest trade partner in ASEAN.

As of the first half of June 2020, Vietnam's pangasius export value plunged by 29.8% over the same period in 2019, reaching US$ 612.3 million.

It seems that Vietnam's pangasius exports to this market are more positive after the UK left the EU in early 2020 with more socio-economic independence.

By the end of June, Vietnam's tuna exports in the first 6 months of 2020 continued to fall, down 20% over the same period in 2019, reaching nearly US$ 293 million.

In the first five months, shrimp export hit US$1.2 billion, up by 2.3% year on year. Notably, shrimp exports to the US and China recorded positive growth and it is expected that Vietnamese shrimp exports to these markets will still grow well in the coming months.
