Export of yellowfin tuna to Italy rose by 60%

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam’s tuna export value to Italy market in June 2019 increased significantly to 728.9% compared to the same period in 2018. Not only that, from March to June 2019, the value of tuna exports to this market has been growing continuously. Thanks to this result, from the 4th largest importer in 2018, Italy has become the leading tuna importer of Vietnam in the EU regions in the first half of 2019.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam's tuna exports in the second quarter of 2019 was still positive, growing continuously in each month. Vietnam's tuna export value in this quarter reached nearly US$203 million, up 23% compared to the same period in 2018, bringing the total export value in the first 6 months to over US$366 million, up 21% over the same period in 2018.

Mekong Fisheries Joint Stock Company (HoSE: AAM) announced that the revenue in the second quarter of this year reached VND 49.6 billion, down 4% over the same period in 2018. Profit before tax was estimated at VND 4.6 billion, up 3.2% over the same period. Profit after tax was VND 3.7 billion, down 5.3% over the same period in 2018. Low profit is mainly due to high cost of goods sold, accounting for 88% of company's revenue.

From the beginning of the year until now, the aquaculture production in Binh Dinh province was estimated at over 4,641 MT, including: brackish water shrimp farming reached over 3,629 MT; lobster hit 1 MT; saltwater, brackish water and freshwater finfish reached 955 MT and other aquatic products touched 56 MT.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The export value of Vietnamese pangasius from March to June 2019 declined from 6% to 17.6% compared to the same period in 2018. By the end of June 2019, the total export value of pangasius reached US$961.6 million, decreased 4.1% compared to the first half of 2018. Exports to the US, Brazil and Colombia markets reduced, thus affecting the overall growth rate. It is forecasted that in the third quater, pangasius exports might grow again, however, the growth rate might not exceed 15% compared to the same period in 2018.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Recently, the General Department of Customs of China has posted an announcement that the National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (Nafiqad) reviewed and sent back the list of 665 Vietnamese seafood enterprises which are eligible to export to the Chinese market. Accordingly, Nafiqad has proposed to remove 15 enterprises from the list of 680 enterprises previously eligible for export to China, as these enterprises have now been dissolved.
