Vietnam bilvalve mollusk exports rose by 42% in July 2019

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first quarter of 2019, Vietnam's bivalve mollusk exports increased slightly by 0.6% mainly due to sharp increase in exports in January, but from February to the end of June, exports declined continously. Export of bivalve mollusk has reversed to go up in July 2019. In the first 7 months of 2019, exports of this commodity reached nearly US$52 million, up slightly 0.24% over the same period in 2018.

Dong Thap to grant identification numbers for 100% of pangasius ponds

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to Dong Thap provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural, the province has 2,450 hectares of pangasius ponds in value chain, 20 companies involved in pangasius farming for export (nearly 970 hectares) and 1,564 facilities where fries are produced and supplied to the market.

Vietnam fisheries industry continues to maintain its growth rate

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In July and the first 7 months of 2019, the fisheries sector continued to be a bright spot in the agricultural sector with a stable growth. Generally, in the first 7 months of 2019, seafood production is estimated at 4,521,000 MT, up 5.6% over the same period in 2018.

Quang Ngai: Fisheries production hit nearly 155,700 MT

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the report of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai Province, the fisheries output in the first 7 months of 2019 reached 155,677 MT, an increase of 7% over the same period in 2018, equal to 66.3% of the year plan; in which, capture output is estimated at 152,333 MT, aquaculture production reached 3,343 MT.

Tuna exports rose 20.3% in Jan-Jul 2019

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to statistics of the Vietnam Customs, Vietnam exported $429 million worth of tuna products in the first 7 months of 2019, up 20.3% over the same period in 2018. Thus, July is the 7th consecutive month that Vietnamese tuna exports have increased compared to the same period in 2018.

Pangasius exports continued to drop by 12.7% in Jul 2019

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Until the end of July 2019, pangasius export value of 5 consecutive months decreased compared to the same period in 2018. Therefore, the total value of pangasius exports in the first 7 months of this year declined by 5.5%, reaching US$1.13 billion. Particularly in July 2019, pangasius export value fell by 12.7% over the same period last year.

Vietnamese shrimp exports reversed to rise in July 2019

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first seven months of 2019, Vietnam shrimp export reached US$1.8 billion, down 8% compared to the same period in 2018. The downward trend has slowed down thanks to positive export growth in July. Vietnam shrimp export is expected to reach more positive results in the last months of the year.

Exports of pangasius to Belgium saw stable growth

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) As of the first half of July 2019, the total value of pangasius exports to Belgium reached US$12.9 million, up 34.3% over the same period in 2018. Belgium was the fourth largest importer of Vietnam pangasius in the EU region. Compared to some potential markets of Vietnam pangasius in Asia such as Hong Kong or Malaysia, the export value of pangasius to this market was only by a half, however, in the first 6 months, pangasius exports to Belgium have been growing steadily.

Tuna exports to the US market went up by 61% in H1

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In 2018, Vietnamese tuna exports to the US decreased continuously in the first half of the year. By contrast, in 2019, tuna exports to this market grew steadily. Tuna export value to this market in the first 6 months of 2019 climbed by 61% over the same period in 2018, reaching US$159 million.
