(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In March 2022, the VASEP Association and the International Labour Organization (ILO) cooperatively implemented and released “Practical Guide on Preventing Child Labour in Fishery Supply Chains”, with the support of Technical Support for Enhancing the National Capacity to Prevent and Reduce Child Labour in Viet Nam (ENHANCE).

During the first 2 months of 2022, exports of these products were worth 565 million USD, up 33% over the same period last year. Currently, marine products exports account for 37% of the country's total seafood export value.

Shrimp products exports experienced a growth of 55%, solely accounted for 76% with 33.5 million USD. In particular, the exports of black tiger shrimp to the UK market rose dramatically, 6 times higher than the same period in 2021.

In which, the shrimp industry accounted for nearly 45% and the pangasius industry accounted for 18%, reaching $3.9 billion and $1.6 billion respectively. Regarding the general business activities, enterprises in the industry can be divided into two prominent directions: one is to reverse the current to recover strongly; the second is continuing the downward trend due to the inability to control rising costs.

This is one of the goals set in the new strategy on agricultural and rural development in the period 2021 – 2030, vision 2050, approved by Decision 150/QĐ-TTg on 28th January.
