Mekong Delta plans to produce more 400,000 MT of fish in 2014

(vasep.com.vn) In 2014, provinces in the Mekong Delta target to raise aquaculture area to 800,000 hectares, up 5,000 hectares year-on-year. Accordingly, local fish production is expected to hit 2.4 million MT, up over 400,000 MT.

Rise in demand for canned tuna

The frozen skipjack price remains strong at USD 2 300-2 400/tonne for delivery to Bangkok. During early June, there was a softening in the price to USD 2 150/tonne that lasted for a short period. Marketers indicate that prices have bottomed out and could possibly increase again in a short time.

Au Vung Co: Shirmp exports up 79.2 percent in 2013

(vasep.com.vn) In 2013, Au Vung Seafoods Company (Au Vung Co) reached US$102 million of shrimp exports, up 79.2 percent against those of 2012. Au Vung Co mainly sent products to South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China and the EU countries. Its key items were black tiger and whiteleg shrimps.

Vietnam-the second largest tuna supplier to US

Russia suspends imports of Taiwanese saury fish

Taiwanese fishery authorities were surprised at Russia's order to prohibit imports of Pacific saury from Taiwan, which took effect on Dec. 15.

Fimex VN: 630 MT of finished shrimp product in November

Ngoc Tri Seafood to earn US$4 million of December shrimp exports

(vasep.com.vn) Through November 2013, Ngoc Tri Seafood Comapny (Ngoc Tri Seafood) exported 3,000 MT of shrimp of all products and varieties to generate US$37 million; 55 percent of which was black tiger shrimp, whiteleg shrimp 40 percent. The rest was wild white shrimp.

Price of frozen bluefin in Japan down

The average price of frozen bluefin (HS 030345000 y 030346000) at Japan Customs in October was JPY 1,538/kg, similar to that of September and down 9% on that of October 2012.
