Import demand for octopus to increase globally

(vasep.com.vn) According to ITC statistics, in the first half of 2014, South Korea, Japan and the United States, the world's three biggest octopus importers increased in both the volume and value of their imports. These imports are mainly used for domestic consumption. Thus, during this period, Vietnam cephalopod export shares had many changes. Octopus exports rose nearly 5% year on year.

Pangasius exports to Spain recovered

(vasep.com.vn) According to General Customs, Vietnam pangasius exports to Spain in the first 7 months of 2014 reached US$ 50.46 million, up 10.5% year on year. Particularly, July exports value was US$ 7.4 million, increasing 27.7% year on year. Spain remained the top market in EU for Vietnam pangasius and was the only market with positive growth among 4 biggest pangasius importers in EU.

VND 15,000 billion available for loans on aquaculture development

Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) decided to deploy a credit program valued at VND 15,000 billion for the period of 2014-2017 to support aquaculture development.

Phu Yen: Sharp increase in tuna catch

Fimex VN: Shrimp sales of nearly US$60 million in Jan-Jun 2014

(vasep.com.vn) Through June 2014, Saota Foods Joint Stock Company (Fimex VN) processed 4,480 MT of finished shrimp products, up 30 percent year on year. Its export revenue hit US$59 million, up 65 percent year on year. In the period, the processing production, revenue and profit of the company reached the highest level in the past 17 years.

Argentina: Signs of a good year for shrimp

The Undersecretariat of Fisheries of the Nation reported that between 1 January and 28 June, 2013 a total of 19,021.8 tonnes of shrimp (Pleoticus muelleri) was landed in Argentinean ports.
