Develop sustainable industrial shrimp farming

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) On 23rd February 2016, Kien Giang Province people's Committee in collaboration with the General Directorate of fisheries (Ministry of agriculture and rural development) organized a workshop on Developing sustainable industrial shrimp farming. The province’s the goal is to produce 57,000 tonnes of shrimp in 2016, in which industrial and semi-industrial farmed shrimp is about 20000 tons.

Ca Mau striving for seafood production of 530,000 tons in 2016

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In 2016 Ca Mau province plans to push the total output of fisheries and aquaculrure up 530,000 tons, an increase of 6% compared to the year 2015. The provinve will raise 15% shrimp farming areas this year and boost improved extensive shrimp farming.

Increase 14% in Vietnam seafood exports in January 2016

Import prices of processed clam in Japan fell in 2015

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the year of 2015, Japan tended to increase imports of fresh live clams, (HS code 030771), but reduced the imports of frozen clam (HS code 030779) and processed clam (HS code 160556). Live, fresh clam is the most imports into Japan in 2015, next is processed clam. Frozen clam exports reached the lowest value. In 2015, Japan’s frozen clam imports worth US$32.23 million, down 11% compared to 2014.

Vietnam Pangasius exports to Russia passed a year of slump

(seafood. vasep.com.vn) In 2015, the Vietnam pangasius exports to Russia totaled US$16.8 million, accounting for only 1.08% of the total export value of the fish. With value plummeting 49% compared to the previous year, Vietnam pangasius exports to the Russian market in the past year was not positive.

More seafood to go to ASEAN this year

Vietnam’s seafood exports to ASEAN markets jumped last year but slid in other markets including the United States, the European Union (EU) and Japan.

NFI continues push to repeal new catfish regulation
