Senators McCain & Ayotte disapproving of catfish rules from USDA

U.S. Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) introduced a Resolution of Disapproval under the Congressional Review Act that would nullify the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) final rules establishing the catfish inspection program.

Vietnam is Japan’s top supplier for frozen raw shrimp

(vasep.com.vn) Statistics from International Trade Center (ITC) showed that Vietnam remained the leading shrimp supplier to Japan. It was followed by Thailand, Indonesia and India, respectively. Shrimp imports into Japan from Vietnam in Jan-Oct 2015, however, reported the year-on-year slump in both volume and value.

AEC: Opportunities for seafood enterprises

Vietnam maintains as a leading exporter of processed clams to Italy

(vasep.com.vn) To Vietnam, Italy is the second biggest market for bivalve mollusk in the EU. According to Vietnam General Customs, through October, bivalve mollusk exports to Italy reached US$ 10.8 million, up 4% from the same period last year. All clam products that Vietnam exported to Italy are processed (HS 160 556).

Pangasius imports of Mexico betters after TPP

(vasep.com.vn) Vietnam is currently the third largest frozen seafood supplier to Mexico , just behind after China and Chile. In Q2/2015, pangasius exports to this market suddenly dropped. June imports halved from May. This also happened in frozen tilapia fillets imports from China.

Vietnam tuna exports to Spain recovers

(vasep.com.vn) Vietnam tuna exports to Spain increased in the first 4 months of 2015, followed by a decline in the next 4 months and gained back again in September. Through September, Spain was Vietnam’s second largest importing market for tuna in the EU.
