(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Eight ocean tuna caught by fishermen from the central province of Binh Dinh, Vietnam, were recently auctioned in Japan. A 39kg tuna sold for the highest price of 1,600 yen/kg, earning nearly $600.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In an effort to grow the availability of four-star Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) shrimp, the Global Aquaculture Alliance has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with National Fish & Seafood and Minh Phu Seafood in which approximately 800 shrimp farms in Vietnam will be encouraged to attain BAP certification.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In 2015, total seafood imports by Vietnam reached US$6.57 billion, down 16.1% from 2014. Vietnam enterprises must import raw material for processing and exporting due to instability in domestic supply of raw material. However, seafood imports in to Vietnam in 2015 were lower than those of 2014 because enterprises must face difficulties caused by decline in import price, weaker importing demand and stronger competition.

VASEP PRESS RELEASE: US DOC's final results of POR9 on shrimp imported from Vietnam

(vasep.com.vn) On 7th September 2015, US Department of Commerce (DOC) issued the final results of the ninth anti-dumping duty administrative reviews on frozen shrimp imported from Vietnam. The period of review (POR) is from 1st February 2013 to 31st January 2014. DOC imposes average anti-dumping duty of 0.91%, compared to 0.93% in the preliminary results announced in March 2015. This is much lower than final result of POR8, which was 6.37%.
