2016: Vietnam pangasius exports to EU may rebound

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first two months of 2016, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to the EU reached US$40.2 million, up 0.4% compared to the same period last year. In particular, pangasius exports to Spain and German posted a rise of 34% and 14.3%, respectively. However, the figure to the Netherlands fell by 11.6%; and the UK with -11.8% over the same period of 2015.

Jan-Feb 2016: Upswing in Vietnam shrimp exports

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) After the decline in 2015, shrimp exports in early 2016 showed positive growth. In Jan 2016, shrimp exports earned US$227.4 million; up 10.2% compared to Jan 2015. The figure in Feb 2016 was US$151 million; an increase of 6.1%. Therefore, Vietnam shrimp exports in Jan-Feb 2016 totaled US$378.4 million; up 8.5% over Jan-Feb 2015.

USDA recognized 45 eligible pangasius factories exporting to the U.S.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) On Mar 9th, 2016, after receiving Document No. 376/QLCL-CL1 of National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD) under Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) under USDA considered and added 22 Vietnam pangasius processing facilities to the list of eligible pangasius and Siluriformes exporters to the U.S.. So far, there are totally 45 eligible pangasius exporters of Vietnam to the U.S.

Vietnam shrimp exports to China climbed up

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to Vietnam Customs, after a slump in the first 3 quarters of 2015, Vietnam's shrimp exports to China in QIV/2015 totaled over US$102 million, a year-on-year increase of 18.4%. Meanwhile, Vietnam’s shrimp exports to other main markets declined. From September to December 2015, shrimp exports to China showed a positive growth of 9.4% - 28% over the same period in 2014.

Thien Phu Seafood: Frozen shrimp become more competitive

Vietnam bivalve mollusk exports up in Jan-Feb 2016

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the last months of 2015 and the early 2016, Vietnam bivalve mollusk exports reported the growth. Sales in Dec 2015 and Jan 2016 reported the year-on-year growth of 58.8% and 33.5%, respectively. However, the figure in Feb 2016 downed 21.8% and reached US$3.7 million.
