Ca Mau: 12,401 ha of shrimp farming granted international eco-certification

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Source from Ca Mau Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; the province currently has 12,401 hectares of shrimp farming combined with afforestation certified by international ecological standard. These farming areas are owned by 2,511 households in two districts of Nam Can and Ngoc Hien of Ca Mau.

Vietnam seafood exports rose in the early months of 2016

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to Vietnam Directorate of Fisheries, in QI/2016, seafood production by the country estimated at nearly VND35.4 trillion, up 2.3% compared to QI/2015. In which, aquaculture production hit the value of VND17 trillion, up 0.9%; and the value of capture ouput was more over VND18.4 trillion, up 3.8% from QI/2015.

Vinh Long: Down in pangasius stocking area

Japan highly appreciates tuna from Vietnam

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The cargo of 5 tunas (volume of nearly 230 kg) originated from Binh Dinh province, Vietnam and caught under Japanese techniques have been auctioned successfully in Sakai city (Osaka Prefecture, Japan) by Japan-based Kato Hitoshi General Office Co. Ltd. The average auction price of Vietnam tuna is higher than that of tuna from many countries in the Asian region.

QI/2016: Up in capture and aquaculture production

Mekongfish Co.: Profit after tax hit VND2.6 billion in 2015

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the annual report of Mekong Fisheries Joint Stock Company (Mekongfish Co - HOSE: AAM), the revenue of the company in 2015 reached VND356 billion, a decrease of more than 20% on par with 2014. The profit after tax of Mekongfish Co. touched VND2.6 billion.

Vietnam tuna exports down in Jan-Feb 2016

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In Feb 2016, Vietnam tuna exports reached nearly US$24 million, down 21% year on year. The cumulative figure in the first two months of 2016 hit US$60.7 million, down 4% from the same period of 2015 (US$63.3 million).

Ninh Thuan: Capture production hit 10,136 MT in Jan-Feb 2016

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Thanks to favorable weather, there were about 90% of vessels in the province of Ninh Thuan, Vietnam engaging in fishing activities after Tet holidays. In Feb 2016, capture output estimated at 7,576 MT; the figure in Jan-Feb 2016 was 10,136 MT.
