(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam is one of Australia’s leading aquaculture suppliers and the country’s seafood has been performing impressively on the Australian market. Currently, Vietnam is regarded as almost the exclusive source for pangasius to Australia, with the export proportion reaching up to 98%. The country is also the leading exporter of processed shrimp to Australia, occupying 31.1% of total import value. In terms of tuna, Vietnam ranked the 4th with the market share of 1%.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In Jan-Sep 2016, fishing activities of fishermen in Khanh Hoa province of Vietnam were facilitated thanks to favorable weather. Besides, the province focused on implementing the Decree 67 of the Prime Minister on some policies supporting fishery industry’s development. Accordingly, vessels’ owners received loans to build or renovate their off-shore fishing vessels.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam are top 3 largest suppliers of tuna to Israel. According to the ITC, as of Jun 2016, tuna imports into Israel totaled over US$37 million, in which, imports from Thailand hit US$10.8 million, imports from Philiipines hit US$8 million and imports from Vietnam reached nearly US$7 million.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Despite unfavorable weather from the end of Jul to mid-Sep 2016, fishermen still facilitated their fishing activities. Therefore, capture production in some localities showed the good results, especially the production of mahi mahi, herring, anchovies, and skipjack tuna in some provinces of the south central Vietnam and Mekong Delta.
