Agro-fishery-forestry exports to China rise in first 10 months

Vietnam’s agro-fishery-forestry exports to China hit 26.4 billion USD in the first 10 months of 2016, a rise of 6.3 percent year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Italy is one of the biggest markets in the world for tuna consumption with a 3% rise in the import demand in the first half of 2016. In particular, imports frozen tuna as raw materials surged up 17%. Shipments to the market accounted for 6% Vietnam tuna exports. Recently, Italy stayed as a potential importing market of Vietnam, for both frozen and processed segments.

Up in surrimi exports to Japan in QIII/2016

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Until the end of September 2016, total surimi exports of Vietnam reached US$181.6 surimi million, down 16.6% from the same period last year. Vietnam exported surimi to 33 markets, 6 markets lower compared to the same period of 2015. Top 5 major markets including Japan, South Korea, EU, China and Taiwan accounted for 69% of total exports.

Dong Thap leads Mekong Delta in pangasius output

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam’s aquaculture output in Oct 2016 amounted to 310 thousand MT, up 8.9% compared to the same period last year. The figure in Jan-Oct 2016 estimated at 2,924 thousand MT, up 1.6% compared to the same period last year.

However, this year a number of fish species appear more such as striped tuna, mahi mahi, flying fish, flying-squid and so on. Therefore, the capture output gained positive results. Of that, some species that achieved high yield were mackerel, tuna, mahi mahi, snapper, scad and anchovies.

SJ1: Profit in QIII/2016 hit VND11 billion

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Hung Hau Agricultural Corporation (HOSE: SJ1) announced its quarterly financial report in QIII/2016. Accordingly, net revenue in the period reached VND260.8 billion, a two-fold increase year on year. Despite higher cost of goods sold, its gross profit surged up to VND25.68 billion compared with VND13.8 billion in the same period of 2015.

China-the largest importer of VN black tiger shrimp

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In QIII/2016, Vietnam shrimp exports to China reached US$105.8 million USD; up 11.7% compared to QIII/2015 but down 12% compared to QII/2016. The decline was due to China's economic instability, the yuan devaluation, leading to temporary reduction in importing demand. Despite the decrease in the third quarter, shrimp exports to the market in the first 9 months of this year grew 30.3% to US$323.3 million.
