Vietnam’s aquatic export forecast to top 8.5 bln USD in 2018

Vietnam’s export of aquatic products is forecast to top 8.5 billion USD next year, up nearly 3 percent from 2017, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP).

Swire sells Swire Cold Storage to Emergent Cold

John Swire & Sons Ltd (Swire) and Emergent Cold announced they have signed a Sale and Purchase agreement to sell Swire Cold Storage Pty Ltd and Swire Cold Storage Vietnam to Emergent Cold. Both cold storage businesses have been sold as a going concern and all assets, including customer and employee contracts, warehouses and land will be transferred to the new ownership. The transaction completed on December 22, 2017. Further details of the transaction were not disclosed

Up 53.3% in Vietnam cephalopod exports

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam’s cephalopod exports from the beginning of this year were on the upward trend over the same period last year. As of Sep 2017, the figure totaled US$457.9 million, up 53.5% over the same period last year. Exports to top 9 major markets recorded the good growth over the same period in 2016. Supplies increased thanks to a rise in production and export volume, along with the flexibility of exporters in adjusting the structure of production and markets.

In 2008, the European Commission (EC) issued Regulation 1005/2008 on illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU). According to the regulation, the countries exporting exploited products to the European Union (EU) must comply with the regulations on IUU.

Tuna exports rose 21.2% in Jan-Sep 2017

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first 9 months of 2017, Vietnam’s tuna exports totaled US$429.7 million, up 21.2%. Exports to most of major importing markets recorded the good growth such as the U.S, EU and Israel.

Vietnam shrimp sales to go on the rise in QIV

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) After a reduction in the first quarter, Vietnam’s shrimp exports in QII and QIII/2017 showed the possitive growth. Of that, exports in QII increased by 52% over QI, exports in QIII increased by 25% over QII and 90% over QI. Vietnam’s shrimp exports in the first nine months of the year reached US$2.7 billion; up 21.4% over the same period in 2016.

Switzerland imports over 50 percent shrimp from Vietnam

During the 10-year period (2007-2016), Vietnam was consistently the largest shrimp supplier for Switzerland, accounting for over 50 percent of total Swiss shrimp imports.

Kien Giang exports surpass yearly target

The Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang earned 470 million USD from exports in 2017, surpassing its target by 17.5 percent, up 43 percent year on year, reported the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.

Vietnam’s exports likely to hit all-high 212 billion USD this year

Vietnam expects to earn more than 212 billion USD from exports this year, much higher than 176 billion USD last year, according to head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT)’s Planning Department Duong Duy Hung.
