The VietNam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) Marine Product Committee and Vietnamese seafood processors and exporters have promised to implement the EU’s demands on fighting illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and the national action plan to combat it.

Attending the meeting, there were Mr. Tran Van Minh, Vice Chairman of The National Assembly Committee for Science, Technology and Environment; Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thuy, Deputy Head of the National Assembly delegation in Ben Tre; Deputy Minister of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) – Mr. Vu Van Tam as well as more than 100 representatives from MARD, sub-departments of Ba Ria Vung Tau province, Tien Giang province, marine product enterprises and the media.

After VASEP launched and sent an open letter on inviting marine product enterprises to register to participate in "Combating IUU Fishing", VASEP has been receiving a lot of attention & registration from marine product enterprises in the country wide to take part in the program "Commiting against IUU fishing".

The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) has urged seafood processors, importers and exporters to participate in the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

During a recent meeting in Thailand, the prime ministers of Thailand and Vietnam reaffirmed their commitment to suppressing illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) On Sep 11th 2017, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam – Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Deputy Minister of MARD– Mr. Vu Van Tam and leaders of MARD, and leaders of Directorate of Fisheries (D-Fish) had a meeting with Ambassador Bruno Angelet, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam and EU Trade Counselors in Vietnam with an aim to discussing and sharing information on the implementation of EU’s recommendations on combating IUU fishing in Vietnam.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) On 31st Aug 2017, at the meeting room of Saigon International Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC), on the sideline of the Vietfish 2017, VASEP Marine Product Committee held a meeting of seafood enterprises to unify the implementation of the IUU regulations as well as provide solutions to combat IUU fishing.
