In July 2017, Vietnam’s cephalopod exports to the market valued at US$6.5 million, a remarkable increase of 226% compared to July 2016. The figure in the first 7 months of this year totaled over US$21 million, up 140% over the same period in 2016.

In the past 10 years (2007-2016), shrimp imports into the bloc increased from US$5.6 billion to US$6.7 billion in 2016. The export value bottomed out at US$5.4 billion in 2009 and reached a peak US$7,6 billion in 2014.

Fishermen of the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang have caught nearly 80,000 tonnes of seafood since the start of the year, a rise of 2.2 percent year-on-year.

The Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang is striving to gross more than 42 million USD from exports in the fourth quarter of 2017, fulfilling its yearly target of 400 million USD.
