(seafood.vasep.com.vn) After a period of continuous decline, Vietnam's tuna exports to the US have risen again. Yet, the growth rate is still low. Specifically, the value of Vietnam's tuna exports to the US in August and September spiked by 5.2% and 1.6%, respectively. Therefore, the total export value in the first 9 months of the year to the US was only over US$208 million, down 13.8% over the same period in 2019.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first 9 months of this year, Vietnam's other seafood exports, including marine fish, surimi, crabs, and bivalve molluscs, reached US$ 1.63 billion, up 1% over the same period in 2019. Exports of crabs rose the most by 26%, exports of marine fish increased by 21%, that of bivalve molluscs hiked slightly by 4%, but surimi exports decreased by 6%.

The Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers said it plans several measures to help its members further penetrate the global supply chain and enable the fisheries sector to reach its export target of US$12 billion in 2025, 40 per cent higher than this year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In September 2020, Vietnam's export of cephalopod climbed by 20.4% to over US$51 million. In the first 9 months of this year, cephalopod exports reached US$396.3 million, down 7.5% from the same period in 2019.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam shrimp exports to the UK as of September 15, 2020 reached $161.2 million, up 15% over the same period in 2019. The UK is also considered one of the import markets of Vietnamese shrimp that perform well and seem to is not affected much by the Covid-19 epidemic since the beginning of the year until now.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) China is the 5th largest importer for cephalopod of Vietnam, accounting for 7.7% of the proportion of cephalopod exports. After falling by 45% in the first quarter, Vietnamese cephalopod exports to China recovered from the second quarter to August of 2020. In the first eight months of 2020, Vietnamese cephalopod exports to China reached US$ 26.6 million, up 53% year on year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Egypt is the 7th largest tuna importer for Vietnamese tuna, accounting for 2.4% of the total value of Vietnam's tuna exports to markets in the first 8 months of 2020. Although the proportion is not large, the export of tuna to Egypt in the first 8 months of 2020 was quite impressive (especially in the past two months - July and August 2020). By the end of August 2020, Vietnam's tuna exports to Egypt reached more than 10 million USD, up nearly 65% over the same period in 2019.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first half of 2020, demand for German tuna (especially canned tuna) rose. The volume of tuna imports of this country reached the highest level in the past 5 years. This is mainly due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, which caused many families in Germany to stock up on tuna to ensure a healthy and long-term source of protein.
