VOV.VN - Vietnam’s shrimp exports during the eight-month period of the year to China soared by 21% to reach US$477 million against the same period from last year, according to figures released by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In August 2024, Vietnam's shrimp exports reached 404 million USD, up 20% compared to August 2023. Shrimp exports in August continued to record the highest value since the beginning of the year and recorded the best growth since February this year. In the first 8 months of this year, shrimp export turnover reached more than 2.4 billion USD, up 10% over the same period last year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) FIMEX VN's sales surged almost 36% year-on-year to USD 30.38 million in August 2024, driven by a 74% increase in finished shrimp production.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The Department of Fisheries of Ca Mau province coordinated with the School of Fisheries under Can Tho University to organize training courses on high-tech shrimp farming for 120 people in processors, cooperatives and families that are raising intensive and super-intensive shrimp in the province.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The “Bien Bach Dong Commune Shrimp-Rice Project” in Ca Mau province was granted the second BAP (Best Aquaculture Practices of the Global Aquaculture Alliance) certificate for shrimp products in the shrimp-rice specialized area in Thoi Binh district, Ca Mau province.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tra Vinh province, farmers in coastal areas of Cau Ngang, Tra Cu, Duyen Hai districts and Duyen Hai town have now cultivated over 1,800 hectares of whiteleg shrimp under a high-tech super-intensive model (high density), which is double the same period in 2023.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Some farmers in Soc Trang province have successfully applied a balanced biological shrimp farming technique, which eliminates the use of chemicals to minimize environmental impacts. This is a model of farming that adapts to climate change.

Shrimp exports in July recorded the highest value since the beginning of the year and this is also the month when Vietnam's shrimp exports saw the best growth rate since February this year. In the first 7 months of this year, the shrimp export turnover reached over $2 billion, up 8% compared to the same period last year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the latest report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ca Mau province, total fishery production in the first 6 months of 2024 is estimated to reach 326,170 tons, reaching 50.03% of the plan, up 1.56% over the same period last year. Of which, aquaculture output reached 205,300 tons, an increase of 0.64%, and exploitation output reached 120,870 tons, an increase of 3.16%.
