In May alone, local hatcheries produced 2 billion postlarvae, marking a 3.34% year-on-year increase. The growth reflects improved quality control, especially for broodstock shrimp, along with strengthened monitoring and environmental sampling in farming areas.

Aquaculture activities remained stable thanks to favorable weather conditions. In May, the total farming area was estimated at 214.2 hectares, down 0.42% year-on-year. Over five months, the cumulative area reached 1,057 hectares, up 0.83%. While fish farming area declined slightly to 758 hectares (down 0.79%), shrimp farming expanded to 279 hectares (up 5.24%).

Offshore cage farming also continued to develop, with 125 households operating 139 fish cages totaling 3,023 units across seven coastal areas. Main species include cobia, grouper, pompano, trevally, and lobster.

Total aquaculture output in May was estimated at 728 tons, up 5.66% from the same month in 2024. For the five-month period, total production reached 3,448.2 tons, rising 3.87% year-on-year. This includes 1,512.5 tons of fish (up 0.98%) and 1,844.9 tons of brackish water shrimp (up 5.68%).

Environmental monitoring and disease prevention efforts have been reinforced to support sustainable aquaculture and limit risks in key farming zones.
