Sao Ta (FMC) reports 39% sales growth in May, reaches USD 21 million

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Sao Ta Foods Joint Stock Company (FMC) reported that its sales in May 2025 reached USD 21 million, marking a 39% increase year-on-year. The company noted that actual sales for the month could have been even higher, but several shipments to the U.S. under DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) terms were not recorded as revenue for May under Vietnamese accounting standards. These will instead be recognized in June.

According to Sao Ta’s May 2025 business update, the company produced 2,389 metric tons of processed shrimp during the month, a 13% decline compared to the same period last year. However, shrimp consumption surged by 53%, reaching 1,419 metric tons. In addition, the company produced 202 tons of agricultural products and sold 123 tons—up 65% and 7%, respectively, from May 2024.

Cumulatively, from January to May 2025, Sao Ta’s total sales exceeded USD 115 million, representing a 41% increase year-on-year. The company also reported that it had completed seeding for its new shrimp farming area, with the remaining sections to be completed within the next two weeks. The shrimp are reportedly growing well.

At the 2025 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, Chairman Hồ Quốc Lực acknowledged that Sao Ta, like the broader Vietnamese shrimp industry, faces significant challenges due to shifting trade policies, global economic slowdown risks, and heightened competition from rival exporters.

As a result, the company has adopted a cautious business outlook for the year. It targets net revenue of VND 6,540 billion and pre-tax profit of VND 420 billion—both slightly lower than 2024’s performance.
