(vasep.com.vn) On April 15th 2014, Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development organised a ceremony in the central city of Da Nang to introduce the Vietnam Fisheries Surveillance Force in the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai and representatives from relevant governmental and local authorities.
Operating under Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development's Directorate of Fisheries, the force's key tasks include patrolling the country's waters, monitoring and inspecting fisheries activities, as well as detecting and handling violations in Vietnamese waters.
It will also assist fishermen in their operation, protect the country's aquatic resources and contribute to ensuring and protecting the security and sovereignty of Vietnam’s waters.
The force is divided into official units from the central to grassroot level: Department of Fisheries Surveillance located in Hanoi and 4 sub-departments monitoring regions throughout the country to patrol, inspect, monitor, detect and address prosecute violations in Vietnam's waters.
