(vasep.com.vn) On September 10th 2013, in Hanoi, Directorate of Fisheries reported groundfish resources in Vietnam waters as a result of surveys implemented in the period of 2012 – 2013.
Accordingly, the country has 814 groundfish species belonging to 172 families, including 715 species of finfish, 61 species of crustacean, 61 species of cephalopod.
Groundfish resource is estimated at 615,000 MT in the Northeast monsoon season and 699,000 MT in the Southwest monsoon season.
Crustaceans (shrimp, crab, swimming crab) is gauged at 36,000 MT in the Northeast monsoon and 32,000 MT in the Southwest monsoon. Cephalopods (squid and octopus) is estimated at 61,000 MT and 91,000 MT respectively.
