(vasep.com.vn) To help seafood enterprises to understand more about BAP standards, Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) in coordination with Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) and Trung Khai Corp. held a conference on “Best Aquaculture Practices - BAP” in Can Tho city in June 29th 2012.
At the conference, leading experts of GAA/BAP such as Ms. Lisa Goche - BAP Vice President, Mr. Jeffrey Peterson – Director of quality assurance for BAP Certification Management, Mr. Ken Corpron - Asia-Pacific coordinator for BAP shared instructions and information about BAP.
Participants in the conference included Mr. Nguyen Huy Dien- Deputy Director General of Directorate of Fisheries (D-Fish), Mr. Nguyen Huu Dung – Vice Chairman of VASEP, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai – Director of Can Tho Sub-Department of Aquaculture, Mr. Michael Hyre – former American lawyer as well as representatives of the U.S. importers and 195 representatives from 81 processors, farms, feed producing plants, hatcheries, universities and advisory units.
Although the conference took place in one day, it provided a lot of BAP information and answered almost participants’ questions. Through the conference, stakeholders understood more clearly about GAA/BAP, BAP certification process, certification cost and BAP’s requirements for farms, processing plants, hatcheries, feed producing plants.
Participants satisfied with information from the conference. They commented that the conference is useful for the enterprises to update information and share questions, experiences with experts, importers and enterprises.
