In August Thaimex exported 102 MT

Like many seafood processing plants in Binh Thuan southern province, Thaimex is facing a shortage of raw materials when local supply can meet only 30% of their production demand. State media said most of boats in the province have to quit fishing offshore due to hiking fuel price. Limited supply results in increasing selling price of fresh seafood.

In August, Thaimex exported 102 MT of seafood, valued USD555,000 to Israel, South Korea and Japan. Israel remains its largest consuming market, representing for 70% of the company’s shimpment volume.

Export value in August increased against the previous month when the company successfully sold more dried squid abroad, large squid export reached 64.4 MT, worth USD215,000.
